The starting point for my photo series Faces of Asia was the question: “Is it better to be poor or rich to be happy?” The people I met while travelling in Asia didn’t seem to need much to be happy. There is a remarkable difference between the Western and the Eastern world. Obviously poverty doesn’t make anyone happy, but neither does capitalism. Finding the balance between having little and being happy is an attitude towards life that inspires me.
W hile traveling through South-East Asia for 7 months, I started to capture people I encountered in the most remote places.
